Garland Public Shooting Range
Your First Visit
Here is what to expect when you visit Garland Public Shooting Range for the first time.

Before you arrive: Garland is cash only, with an ATM in the lobby. A normal first visit for an adult is $50 before optional rentals, ammunition, targets, or merchandise.
Check in
Start in the Garland lobby. First-time visitors watch an approximately five-minute safety video.
Complete the range card
Visitors age 18 or older complete the lifetime range-card information and pay the one-time $25 card fee. Visitors ages 5–17 do not buy or receive a range card.
Pay admission
Daily admission is $25 per person. Everyone entering a shooting-range area pays admission, including non-shooting spectators.
Choose your range
Tell staff whether you want the pistol, rifle, or shotgun area. Staff checks rifle ammunition when applicable and assigns the appropriate range area or lane.
Age and supervision
The minimum shooting age is 5. Every visitor ages 5–17 must be accompanied by an adult and remain within that adult’s arm’s reach everywhere on the range.
Required protection
Eye and ear protection are mandatory for everyone entering a shooting-range area, including spectators. Eye and ear protection rent for $3 each.
Ammunition and targets
- FMJ ammunition is allowed on the pistol range but prohibited on the rifle range.
- Hollow-point, soft-point, ballistic-tip, and frangible rifle ammunition are allowed, subject to all other range rules.
- .50 BMG firearms are prohibited.
- Only paper targets are allowed on the pistol and rifle ranges. You may bring your own paper targets.
- Rental firearms must use ammunition purchased from Garland Public Shooting Range.
Switching ranges
Your paid admission covers the pistol, rifle, and shotgun areas for the entire day. Before switching, return to the lobby and ask staff to change your assigned range.
Inventory, lane availability, and wait times can change. No reservation is required and no availability guarantee is made online.
